Clients are more likely to buy a gift card due to its attractive design, and then they’ll share it with their friends. Your overall exposure only increases with a great design!
So what’s the magic design that you need to put on the cards to get them to fly off your shelves?

Start Simple
I know I said you want to dazzle clients with your cards, and it’s true! But that doesn’t mean the design needs to be complicated. Busy backgrounds, and over complicated designs can make it hard to read the cards. So don’t overdo it.
Make them look nice
When you pick card art, a nice color gradient, pattern or even a photo of your business might look nice!
Just make sure the words “Gift Card” are located on the front of the card. Some people need things spelled out to them more than others. If your company has a slogan, this would be a good opportunity to show it off.
Make sure people can find you
Have you thought about a design for the back of your cards? In addition to the barcode or magnetic strip, you need some information. We recommend making sure you have the website, phone number, and physical address of your store. These details are especially important for those new clients we mentioned you’d be getting from gift cards!
Protect yourself
The last thing you need are terms and conditions. These are the legalese you find on the back of all gift cards.
The terms outline simple details like:
- Gift cards are not redeemable for cash
- Gift cards are not refundable
- Lost gift cards will not be replaced
You may have your own terms and conditions you want to add. Maybe you have a nail technician who only takes cash, the gift card wouldn’t be redeemable with their side of the business.
